Frequently Asked Questions
Below you will find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. Where numbers are present, we have referenced the original Fusion Academy in San Diego.
When was Fusion Academy founded?
In 2001, Fusion Academy opened its doors to its first full-time student. The impetus behind the creation of this accredited school was years of helping local students navigate through traditional schools via our tutoring division, Fusion Learning Center, which opened in 1989. We often witnessed students failing to achieve success in traditional settings, and from that sprang Fusion Academy. Fusion Los Angeles opened its doors on February 16, 2010.
How many students are typically enrolled at Fusion Academy?
The number of students fluctuates from year to year. However, the school has experienced continued growth since its inception. In 2004, Fusion Academy had 17 full-time students; in 2005, 34 full-time students; during the 2006-2007 school year, we enrolled 50 students; and for the 2007-2008 academic year, we attained our maximum student population of 58. We anticipate maintaining an annual student body population of approximately 60 full-time students.
How many students are in a typical graduating class?
As with our student population, the number of graduates per year varies. Our first graduating class, in 2005, had six students; in 2006, there were ten. In 2007, we had 17; in 2008, there were 20; and in 2009, we had a graduating class of 17.

How much is tuition?
Tuition is schedule-specific to each student and is determined by the number of courses taken at once, as well as the level selected.
Do students get any holidays or breaks during the school year?
Yes: two weeks off during winter break, two days off for Thanksgiving, and one week off during spring break. We are a year-round school, and are often open on some bank and government holidays in order to better accommodate each student’s needs.
Can I take my child out of school for a family vacation or event outside of regular school breaks?
Yes, but advance notice must be given. Absences can require an extension of the course as well as additional fees. The benefit of flexible scheduling is that when absent, students do not miss content. When they return, they pick up where they left off with each teacher.
Quote
"My child enjoys attending Fusion every day.
His relationships with staff and teachers are wonderful. He enjoys each and every one. They make him feel like he matters, he belongs. He has gained so much more confidence in himself, academically and socially."
