Programs

Within Fusion Academy and Learning Center, there are three separate and distinct programs. Any student may attend any of the three programs; there are no prerequisites for one based on another.

Fusion Classes for Credit

Fusion Learning Center

Fusion Academy

Fusion Academy is a comprehensive, accredited school for students in grades 6-12. We offer a full range of courses that meet all California high school graduation requirements, which are among the highest standards in the nation, as well as classes specifically created for our students. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges. Most courses are approved by the University of California and meet the UC 'a-g' requirements.

Fusion Academy’s high school requirements include four years of English, three years of mathematics, two years of science, two years of foreign language, three years of social studies/history, one year of visual/performing arts, two years of physical education, one semester of health, and 45 elective credits. Fusion Academy also requires one year of life skills in order to graduate.

Classes are offered on three different levels: Basic, Standard, and Honors. Basic-level courses meet the State of California graduation requirements for high school. Standard- and Honors-level courses are approved by the University of California system and meet the UC 'a-g' requirements.

Fusion Classes for Credit

Fusion offers college-preparatory, for-credit classes to students not attending the full-time Fusion Academy. All courses will be accepted as transferred units by local school districts. Standard- and Honors-level courses meet the University of California’s 'a-g' requirements for college-level acceptance. Upon successful completion of a class, transcripts are automatically delivered to the student's school of choice.  Students can complete an entire year of a course in one summer. A maximum of three classes can be taken in one summer.

How are these courses taught?

All subjects are taught on a one-to-one basis. In addition to working individually with the teacher, the student is required to complete approximately two to four hours of homework between sessions. All homework is assigned individually to the student, and each assignment is modified to accommodate varying learning styles. Fusion uses the Mastery Learning Method to ensure that all students understand the material studied at a minimum 70-percent mastery level. Because classes are taught on a one-on-one basis, students can begin a semester class at any time of the year.

Course levels and lengths

Basic- and Standard-level:

Students must complete a minimum of 17 instructional sessions per semester (some classes require an extension of course sessions). Homework of two to four hours per instructional session is required.

Honors-level:

Students must complete a minimum of 28 instructional sessions per semester (some classes require an extension of course sessions). Homework of two to four hours per instructional session is required.
